Itinerary description

This is the short 30-minute-walk promenade to enjoy the views of lava end of Mount Fuji eruption about 1,100 years ago. Start from Motosu Information Office and walk about ten minutes along the National Route #300 called MOTOSU-MICHI. Then you see the direction board for Tokai Nature Trail, then walk along the edge of Aokigahara Forest grown upon the 1100-year-old lava flow. You will see the lava rocks of various shapes and some might have been used as the god-descending rocks. Fuji-ko pilgrims went to the edge of the lava protruding to the lake to purify their bodies before climbing Mount Fuji or visiting sacred places around Mount Fuji. As the Mount Fuji view comes into view you will soon find the way to get to the lava end. After enjoying the views of lava end, you will return to the main trail and get to the plaza where people are getting rest. The park has a rock garden made by lava rocks. To get back to where you started, go along the road facing the parking space and turn leftward. About a few minutes walk you will find the information office.
