START ROUTE. Old Train Station Les Carolines

Start of the route at La Cafetería Churreria Les Carolines Train Station. Former Les Carolines train station with many years of history, many travelers have passed through here. It gets its name from the Carolinas neighborhood that is located in its vicinity. The Valencia-Liria narrow-gauge line was inaugurated in 1888, but this halt would not be built until 1944 by the then Valencia Tram and Railroad Company. With a simple and functional structure, it follows the same model as other stations of the time, except for a circular tower that had other stops or stations. It has been restored and is now a beautiful Churreria Cafeteria with a terrace, ideal for a drink. You will be able to see in it, the beautiful historical Mural of this Station when the trains still passed by here Painted by @Alexisguevara More tourist information at @visit_benimamet. If you wish, you can arrange a tour guide for Saturdays who will explain the entire route in a fun and entertaining way, data are attached in photos (minimum 2 people). Tel 609.118.766

MURAL OF THE ARTIST TONY VILLALBA

Painter from Benimàmet with numerous national and international exhibitions he represented this beautiful painting with modern geometric shapes, painted in the Linear Park, where the Amphitheater is located, the outdoor meeting place and cultural events and concerts par excellence of Benimàmet. TITLE: OCEAN Abstract mural of geometric and colorful shapes, faithful to the style of its author, immerses us in an enveloping space, as in an ocean, with depth and great visual force. What inspired the artist was an allegory of society itself. The people we meet in life, the freedom to choose our path and who accompanies us, merging with certain people, distancing ourselves from others, whatever our shape and color, but forming part of the same world, flowing in the same ocean. Although he clarifies that each spectator with his eyes makes the work his own and can look for the meaning that it transmits and makes him feel the mur

impulse. This improved connection between Valencia Benimàmet and Lliria allowed the arrival of new residents and vacationers. The classes of the highest economic level in the city established their Modernist Villas for the summer or residence, 3 large cinemas and Summer terrace came to work, with a great atmosphere. There were 2 stops (Benimámet and Les Carolines), currently they are Metro. From the train window you could see the Cave Houses of the Camales area and those of Les Carolines, this beautiful landscape popularized Benimàmet and attracted a multitude of Painters, among them Sorolla, Benedito, Alberto Sánchez ... MURAL TRIBUTE MUSIC Music is always present in Benimàmet, painting is also represented here in this Auditorium, the place where concerts and performances are held in the Open Air.

Benimàmet MURAL

Painted by the artist Alexis @alexisguevarav, it is ideal to take your photos and Selfies souvenir of Benimàmet. Remember to post your photos with the #visit_benimamet and # benimàmet. Benimàmet, comes from the Arabic prefix "Beni-", which is usually translated as "sons of" and which was originally an Andalusian farmhouse, it should be said that its first mention appears in the Llibre del Repartiment with the form "Benimahabet", where in He states that on August 21, 1238, the assets belonging to Hibraim Alfachar were delivered to Sanchis de Stada. It was an independent municipality until 1882, the year it became a "district" or town of Valencia. The mural shows the Coat of Arms of Benimàmet, the original of which can be found in Plaza Luis Cano. Employed by the Constitutional City Council of Benimàmet from 1844 (as indicated in official documents) until its integration in Valencia. The symbol is born from the objects that represent in the martyrdom of Saint Vincent: the hatchback, the mill wheel and the laurel branches; in the center of the shield is the Gospel Book. ALSO you will be able to appreciate the shapes of some of the most representative centenary and historical buildings of Benimàmet: -CHURCH OF SAN VICENTE MARTIR. -CASINO CERVANTES. -COLEGIO AVE MARIA. -Les Carolines Train STATION. -ALQUERIA DEL Canónigo or Torreón. -CHALET OF PANACH. -MONUMENTAL TREE. -AMPHITHEATER FOR MUSIC

Did you know? Camales i Carolines were, by far, the largest cave nuclei in Benimàmet, but there were 3 more groups: les Cuevas de Vista Alegre (in the current Sot de Chera / Mariscal Foch street), Las Cuevas Regina (touching the term of Burjassot, on Ramón Juan / Lorenzo Saiz streets) and Cuevas de Pedrería. The confusion is not so strange when we consider that drilling a hole and building a house in it has been common practice until relatively recently. It was an easy, cheap and fast way to have a house, they were also made in the nearby towns (Paterna, Burjassot, Godella,.). What do all these areas have in common? Large stretches of limestone that could be easily drilled. They were considered highly energy efficient, cool in summer and warm in winter. It was a very picturesque landscape, all the caves painted white and with a lot of vegetation and flowers, they gave a very beautiful color. In 1888 the train line was inaugurated, it was quite an event to see from the window this fantastic Landscape that made Benimàmet very popular and that attracted many painters of the time, including the maestro Sorolla. With the construction of the Cuevas Carolines Park, 3 Cave Houses will be recovered again .: VIRTUAL MUSEUM OF BENIMÀMET located on Facebook and @visit_benimamet,. #history

Great Mural Tribute to the great Valencian painter and artist Joaquín Sorolla by Benimàmet in Valencia and the artist @ Ayom32 on the 125th anniversary of the visits that this great artist made to Benimàmet during the years 1894 and 1895, the result of those visits the 3 works of this genius of painting: Young Valencian Family that has been represented here in the Linear Park of Benimàmet, the painting El Columpio and La mejor Cuna. The Mural shows a young family from Benimàmet in one of the cave dwellings that existed at that time, that baby that appears in the mother's arms, would now be 125 years old and is the great-great-grandfather of a neighbor today. Thanks to our neighbor and great artist for his altruistic work for the community. According to the old newspaper article found, the painting was initially called the Peasant Family of Benimàmet, and it was sold for 145,000 pesetas the year after it was painted in 1896. The teacher Sorolla also painted La mejor Cuna and El Columpio. Also in the painting titled La Parra, it features the same model woman from Benimàmet. MURAL LA MEJOR CUNA . The gardens of this fabulous park are super beautiful, a haven of peace and tranquility. The building is now a municipal library, the beautiful Nolla mosaics are still preserved on its floors. The Panach chalet was the summer residence of the Gil Panach family from which it takes its name. Its first owners were Manuel Panach and Francisca Pastor, who had a famous optician in the then and now defunct Bajada de San Francisco de Valencia. Built between 1840 and 1900, it consisted of the summer residence and around it 6,000 m2 of garden and orchard. It had other buildings that have now disappeared, such as the stables and the house of the guards Next to this park we find the Benimàmet Castle House

Castle of Benimàmet

Walk through the beautiful alleys of the old town. Did you know that in Benimàmet there was a castle built in 1510 ? It was located on Castillo Street, behind the Church. Image in memory is attached. Unfortunately, it was destroyed around 1945 at the end of the Spanish Civil War. After losing its status as a stately house, the castle became a convent, then a school and finally a headquarters of the Guardia Civil. Its last owner was Enrique Blat Donderis alias “the pasture. ” José Martínez Aloy in his Geography General of the Kingdom of Valencia describes it in 1928: “Built at the beginning of the 16th century (1510). Round arch portal, with large stone dovelas. Once the door is crossed, two-storey cloister and brick factory, it surrounds a stone courtyard, under which there is a subterranean. Stone staircase with support for descending and strong railing, it goes up to the gallery, which leads to a flowered door also made of stone. ” Its main door looked towards Paterna and in it was a well and a large tree. The only thing that remains of the castle is the name of the street where it was located. Among the tiny tiles of the stylized rose and other larger and more modern ones there are some, very few of medium dimensions that look like a white horse, saddled and saddled on a blue background. It is the coat of arms of the lineage of the Cavalry who acquired the lordship in 1453. Also, in the González Martí Ceramics Museum of Valencia, we have a tile from this castle and whose description is as follows: Tile decorated in cobalt blue and amortized in maganese, occupying almost all the tile a horse in reserve, with his hands raised, the coat of arms of the Caballería family. San Vicente Mártir Church

In Plaza Doctor Ximeno we find the beautiful Church of San Vicente Mártir Benimàmet and the Mayor's Office of Benimàmet (which is located in the old schools and is also the headquarters of the Popular University). San Vicente Ferrer used to go to this Church frequently to pray to his favorite Saint, San Vicente Mártir, around the year 1390, whenever he went to Paterna. In the houses around the Church we find a multitude of tiles in memory of and gratitude to the Second Patron of Benimàmet, San Francisco de Paula, who according to the historical records before the desperation of the neighbors was taken out of the streets in the previous cholera pandemic and allowed Benimàmet to end with 0 deaths. That is why you will find Mosaics with his image in nearby houses, in honor of his work. The church, which has been declared an Asset of Local Interest, has a single nave, covered with a barrel vault, five sections separated by baroque transverse arches (including that of the choir) and lunettes, but the configuration of its chapels, widely communicated by arches. semicircular, make it almost a temple with three naves. At the foot the elevated choir, and on it a stained glass window that corresponds to the oculus that we can see on the entrance façade and that represents the elements of the martyrdom of Saint Vincent Martyr. At the head, the Main Altar is covered with a quarter-sphere vault with ribbed baroque-style ribs. A small plaque located on the main façade tells us: "Iglesia San Vicente Mártir. Erected parish in 1536". On this date, the Hermitage of San Vicente Mártir with its baptismal font and cemetery is elevated to a parish.
