Itinerary description

Shikinomori Park as the name suggests is one of the enjoyable urban retreats in Yokohama all year round. During early April in particular the park offers some nice cherry viewing places and with some luck the view of Mount Fuji. During summer the park's splash pond becomes the kid's paradise. In late autumn the park shows the beautifully colored autumn leaves. During winter the pond of the park becomes a place to watch migratory birds. The park is as wide as 36 hectares in area and is still expanding.
The north entrance of the park is a 15-minute walk from Yokohama Line Nakayama Station.
The park is large by Japanese standard with 45.3 hectares in area and it is still expanding. When you enter the park from the north entrance you will find a pond on the right side and the valley on the left side. Going along the stream on the east side you will find splash pond, children's playground and a long slide the top of which is also an observation deck to view Mount Fuji. Part 1 covers the western area of the park until coming back to the pond through south entrance area.

Entrance

Actually it is one of the minor entrances of the park. Main Entrance (North Entrance) is only 100 meters apart from there. But to me it was fitting experience. No one else but me around the entrance when the park has a large number of visitors to enjoy viewing sakura.
