It was very misty around the peak so did not have any view. However on a non cloudy day you can see the glacier to the east.

This route has a lot of rocks (big ones) only for 4x4 and good wheels cars, only tourist operators can come but you can try
Small hike around Fjallsárlón lagoon, with spectacular view to the terminus of the glacier and surrounding melting icebergs.
2022 September. You have to cross the river barefoot several times. A red chair is nearby 64°20'30.5"N 14°55'41.5"W

One of the best sights in Iceland in our opinion. Don't walk from the bridge as we did - the road to the far carpark is now very easy. Even large campervans can take it. I suggest you make the effort to go down beside...
Part one of two day hike in the Heinabergsjökull area. The first part is quite boring on a dirt road then it gets more interesting as you approach the glacial lagoons. There is a glacial river that needs to be forded in ...
Great views of the sandur below. The path is not well marked, but it is very difficult to get lost. Easy walk.
June 1, 2016: Originally intended to backpack all the way to Seyðisfjörður but had to terminate the hike here due to improper preparation :( Awesome hike in the majestic mountains of Borgarjörður Eystri.
Really nice route, but had to turn around as the rocks was really loose and we had no ice axe so it got dangerous.. crampons needed in winter..
Sunrise and Tvisongur in Seydisfjordur - trail is very wet and muddy, crossings at sections of waterfalls. Stay at Nord Marina Guesthouse if you get the chance!
Djúpivogur is a small town at the Eastfjords and is a typical fishing village. You will find the same attributes as in the other small villages such as a small gas station with a shop, restaurant and the bay where all th...
Visitor Centre-Sjónarsker- Sel- Svartifoss then S6 - along Eystragil - Sjónarnípa - then route S5 Austurbrekkur - Visitor Centre. Walking time 3 hours 53 minutes.
Tougher than I thought it'd be, but I'm not very experienced and did this in early December. Decent bit of loose rock near the top of the climb, be careful.
nice hike if you follow a river to the valley, numerous waterfalls and a cave. A bit slipery and tricky, you need to cross a small river.
Sun Jul 13 2014 Walking from the Skaftafell campsite to the Svartifoss fall. The day we arrived at Skaftafell we decided to spend our evening walking up to the Svartifoss fall.
Easy and fun hike. Some steep portions but nothing scary. Stunning views. This is only one way and not all the way to the top.
Must be done clockwise. Both for better views and easier track. If you love trail running the descent from the glacier view back to the parking is 100% fun guaranteed
Skagtafell National Park has 6 walks, two easy, two moderate and two difficult. This was the M3 walk - 18 km.
Wonderful hike. Be advised that moderate snowfall makes it tricky at times and that fording the river several times might get you wet up to your knees, despite the negative temperatures... Rated difficult given the day’s...
We made some changes over the original route due to the weather. But it is a good route where you can enjoy also the svartifoss waterfall and the glacier
Beginner mistakes by crossing over early towards the arc. Instead follow the river longer on the way up. Walking across the loose stones on Alftafell is not safe. We made it with 3 kids but a long trip for the 7yo.
Walk or drive up to Rauðatindur. The descent shown takes you past Höskuldstaðagíl and back to the valley. There is no marked path and the route is meant as a guide not as gospel.
Ruta circular que fa la volta a la zona d'Skaftalfellsheidi sense pujar al cim més important de la zona, el Kristinartindar. La ruta segueix les indicacions marcades pel Parc Nacional de Vatnajökulspjógardur com a S2, S3...
