Wonderful tour into the sunrise with light wind from NW. Fog in the East, sometimes in interesting formations. The sun was warming from a cloud free sky. Paradise.

This is a fun trip but there are a lot of boat traffic and north coast of the islands can by windy from the west, which, along with ferrys (they come fast!) and bad visability can be a challenge. Ut well worth it! We had...
We had hoped to link lakes but we needed much lighter boats to do that. Just the carry from the car park to the lake is savage. Overall not worth it.
A cold, mostly gray Sunday morning tour, but little wind and very quiet. The air close to land smells flowers and spring. Wild geese make noise. Humans were still sleeping.

A kayak circuit from the atmospheric tourist cabin of Råkeneset on Ytre Sula (check ut.no for more information). Only 12 km long, this circuit leaves you with enough time to explore some of the fine islands and skerries ...
Another foggy morning: I decided to stay close to the shore and contoured Hundvåg until Kisteneset before crossing to Langøy. Visibility was good enough to cross over to Sandøy. Yesterday I contoured the northern and wes...
Lost another half hour daylight. Leaving after 6:00 meant still before sunrise. Light wind from Southeast determined the direction. First through Stavanger harbour, past the Oil Museum towards Stavanger Øst. Left the ur...
A short urban trip. The rain stopped when I launched the kayak. Due to the early hour human activity was low. The town was still sleeping.

No wind, low clouds were slowly disappearing in the warming morning sun. The city noise was delayed due to the Saturday.
No longer early morning because of the late sunrise - after two weeks of bad weather finally some calm wind. Low clouds with patches of blue sky.
Early morning tour against a fresh North wind zigzagging through the favourite area East of Langøy, then past Klovningen towards Austre Åmøy. Then rounding Storholmen and back home West of Sandøy.
Club trip from the city centre to island Usken and back. Very nice weather, sunny with a northernly breeze. My brand new kayak, a Tiderace Xplore, behaved brilliantly in the waves!
We launched from a car park, with our own kayaks. We also paddled around Oldevatnet upper but I forgot to run a GPS track.
Wonderful tour into the sunrise. Almost no wind. A tour for the senses - eyes of course: rising sun behind low clouds; ears: birds calling; nose: smell of fresh sea, closer to land grazing cows, later sheep.
Wonderful tour into the rising sun above the mountains. Very light wind from the East. People were still sleeping in their cabins and boats. Birds dominated the soundscape. Sadly, the wild geese are leaving us again.
A very calm Sunday morning tour with patches of fog drifting through. Sometimes the islands disappeared.
Starting shortly before sunrise the southeastern wind suggested a tour through the Riskafjorden rounding Uskekalven and Usken. With tailwind I could surf past the Marøyene to Steinsøy and home.
Starting with almost no wind I went past Jotun at the shipyard and Stavanger harbour. After turning southwards to Store Marøy the wind freshen up. Waves were building up quickly. This is so typical for Gandsfjorden. Afte...
Last day of our tour around the Ålesund archipelago starts in Emblemsanden and brings us back top Sjøholt. Great views of the stunning Storfjord and Geirangerfjord entrance. Navigation was easy, but the wind in the fjor...
Quite a windy experience. Kayaking into the sunrise starting with a cloud free sky. Hard work against the southeasterly wind. Later clouds moved in from the southwest. Little opportunities to take pictures. Only in shelt...
Last kayak tour of the year - almost no wind, air temperatures around freezing point. From south-west high clouds drifted into our area. When they obscured the sun it caused an impression of early sunset.
Another calm, fresh, quiet morning kayaking trip. I bit hazy and in the beginning sunny. Lots of midgets in the air close to land.
Early Saturday morning tour with fresh wind from N. After rounding the lighthouse island Klovningen it was fast sailing and surfing back.
A great hint to help you choose your outdoor gear and clothing!
